Well, I'm not entirely sure what's too *exclusive* about that. Quite the contrary, he seems rather *inclusive* in there, reminding us of what was obvious five minutes into the first movie: nothing is off-limits.
But as Abrams says there and has said before, he doesn't want to simply re-tell stories that have already been told. Would Khan act the same when he was reawakened? Yes. He was already floating off into space before Spock and Nero screwed up the timeline. Would Kirk act different? Maybe...it's a slightly different Kirk. Only his genes are identical. But I dunno if there's a thoroughly interesting story there.
Also, Abrams didn't bring up the issue. The subject was initiated by the interviewer.
I'm not going to put any money on Khan being in the next movie.
Now, all incarnations of Kirk being simultaneously interrogated by Starfleet Temporal Investigations??
THAT would be something! And not that the issues are necessarily related, but maybe then they could bring back Luther Sloan. I like Luther Sloan. He's morally ambiguous. Moral ambiguity is a major character flaw in Star Trek.
